Wireless IV Pump Controller
Life-sustaining medical device
The Challenge
Develop hardware and firmware for a wireless IV pump controller
CLIENT: Fortune 100 Company
.
LOCATION: USA
Technological advances enable wireless networks within healthcare delivery organizations, including point-of-care medication systems and electronic medical records. Because of the connectivity capabilities of the wireless IV pump, there are serious security risks associated with the devices. To ensure patient safety, our client needed a partner with a global approach and expertise to develop this medical device requiring complex procedures and systems that must be aligned with regulatory requirements.
Architecture and engineering based on requirements definition
Electronic design of high-density PCB
Full product qualification and characterization
The Solution
A partnership with Orthogone for technological expertise
Orthogone’s team had the hardware and embedded software expertise to minimize project risks and give our customers the skills and agility required to fulfill their product development objectives.
ELECTRONIC DESIGN OF HIGH-DENSITY PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB)
To develop an FDA-compliant product, Orthogone designed the hardware for this innovative product, including the mechanical design concept and architecture. The hardware design is based on the NXP i.MX-7 processor and includes post-layout simulations and timing validation of the high-speed DDR3L memory and the creation of the 802.11n/ac + BT WIFI subsystem.
From software architecture, testing and implementation to hardware design, Orthogone used its proven development process, including robust specification and requirements definition, continuous risk mitigation, iterative design phases, testing and validation, and the uncompromising quality assurance required to design this medical device.
